Optical modules compliant with the SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) standard are devices that convert an electrical signal into an optical signal and an optical signal into an electrical signal. The use of media converters with the possibility of replacing SFP modules is particularly beneficial due to their versatility, e.g. if the network configuration changes, instead of replacing the entire device or adding new media converters, it is enough to select the appropriate SFP module.
