Basics of the ZigBee protocol.

• The ZigBee protocol operates on the 2.4 GHz frequency, which propagates well in buildings
• ZigBee connectivity is MESH connectivity, which means that each ZigBee device acts as a relay for other devices. If a remote sensor does not have communication with the ZigBee Gateway, it is sufficient that it has radio communication with another ZigBee device that has communication with the gateway. The devices work in a mesh chain of connections, which ensures reliability and certainty of the connection.
• ZigBee devices and sensors consume very little energy, which gives a long battery life.
• On a WiFi network with 25 devices you will start to experience network issues. You can easily add over 50 devices to the ZigBee hub.
• Devices using the ZigBee protocol connect to the control panel in 0.2 seconds when the state changes. WiFi devices take about 5 seconds to connect to the WiFi network after a status change. ZigBee devices have a huge advantage when it comes to automating smart rules.
