Path 1 — The Official Aqara Hub
Set up the hub, download the Aqara Home app, pair your devices — done. The simplest path with official manufacturer support, but it runs through Aqara's cloud by default and locks you into the Aqara ecosystem.
Path 2 — Zigbee Coordinator + Home Assistant
Plug a small USB Zigbee coordinator into a computer or server running Home Assistant, and manage the network with Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA. More upfront configuration, but you get full local control and can mix Aqara with other-brand Zigbee devices on the same network.
