What Is Larnitech?
Larnitech is a German-designed smart home system where DIN-rail modules talk to each other over one CAN bus. Here's how it works, and how it differs from KNX.
How it works
One bus, not a wire per function
Relays, dimmers and input modules talk over a single two-wire CAN bus (CAN High / CAN Low) instead of a separate cable for every function.
Wired through WAGO-style terminals
The bus connects via standard WAGO-type terminal blocks — simple to wire up inside a DIN-rail enclosure.
One Main Gateway ties it together
The Main Gateway module has 2 CAN bus connections at the ends of the line — a linear topology terminated at both ends, as is typical for CAN networks.
Control it from your phone
The Larnitech app (Android, iOS, Windows, Linux) runs lighting, climate, security and more; it works with Siri, Google Assistant and Alexa, with data encrypted using AES.
What's inside the Larnitech ecosystem
Its own bus — not KNX
Larnitech is the manufacturer's own proprietary CAN-bus system — it is NOT KNX (the open ISO/IEC 14543-3 standard). Larnitech modules aren't cross-certified with KNX devices the way different KNX brands are certified to interoperate. Third-party hubs like 1Home can bridge both systems from one app, but that's an added integration layer, not a shared standard.
DIN-rail modules
Gateways, relay and dimmer modules (2-18 channels), heating, LED and blind controllers, flood protection, DALI and other interfaces.
Wall (pattress) devices
2-channel actuators, dimmer + LED controllers, input modules, even a Bluetooth CAN-bus interface — for spots without a distribution board.
Sensors
Motion, temperature, humidity, CO2 and flood sensors round out the system.
One app for everything
The Android, iOS, Windows and Linux app runs lighting, climate, security, multimedia scenes and appliances, and works with Siri, Google Assistant and Alexa.
European reach
The manufacturer's site is available in 11+ languages, including German, Russian, Lithuanian and Polish — this isn't a one-country niche product.

Frequently asked questions
Is Larnitech the same as KNX?
No. Both are DIN-rail bus systems, but Larnitech is one manufacturer's proprietary CAN system, while KNX is an open standard used by many brands. Larnitech modules are not KNX-certified.
What kind of cable does it need?
A two-wire CAN bus (CAN High / CAN Low), wired through WAGO-type terminals. The Main Gateway module has 2 connections at the ends of the bus, with termination.
Can I install it myself?
