The OBO Bettermann V50-3-280 is a combined Type 1+2 surge protective device (SPD) that protects against both direct lightning current and switching surges in a single 3-pole DIN-rail unit, built to EN/IEC 61643-11. It handles a lightning impulse current of 12.5 kA (10/350µs) and a nominal discharge current of 30 kA (8/20µs), with a voltage protection level of 1.3 kV at a 230V nominal / 280V maximum continuous voltage. It must be installed ahead of any residual current device (RCD) to prevent the RCD from misreading surge current as a fault.
